Guide To Contracting
Smith College has established this Guide To Contracting as a means to help faculty, staff, and students understand the policies and procedures for entering into contractual relationships on behalf of the College. Please use the navigational links on the right to find the information you need.
Please note that this guide includes both the Policy on forming contractual relationship with third parties as well as Procedures (such as Definition of Terms, Responsibilities, Getting Help, Template Forms, and more). However, it is recognized that the procedures and resources may be changed more frequently than the Policy. As such, contracting departments should refer to both Policy and Procedure when entering into and developing contracts and agreements.
This site is designed solely for use by faculty, staff and students at Smith College. All of the materials on this website are for Smith College management and risk management purposes and should not be construed as legal advice.
Any questions should be directed to the Five College Office of Risk Management.
Signatory Authority
Smith College has developed a signature authority policy that outlines which officers, administrators and staff have the authority to sign a contract on behalf of the college. Please consult the policy below.
