Residence life is part of Smith’s co-curricular environment that enhances and enriches the academic program. Students come from varied backgrounds, and the house community provides a supportive, social environment for them to learn about and appreciate one another’s experiences and differences.

News & Announcements

Returning from Leave/Study Abroad?

The Spring Room Assignment Request Form is now open in Residence Life Self-Service for current students who need to request on-campus housing for the Spring 2022 semester. The deadline for this form is December 1 at 11:59 a.m. Assignments will be confirmed via email by December 20.

Off-Campus Housing Requests for Spring 2022

The Petition to Live Off-Campus is now available in Residence Life Self-Service for students who wish to seek off-campus housing for the Spring 2022 semester. The priority deadline for consideration is December 1 at 11:59 a.m. Students who apply by the priority deadline will be notified of their status prior to the end of the fall semester. Students who apply after this date will be considered on a rolling basis. 

Holiday Break Shuttle Service

The SGA will be offering shuttle service to Bradley International Airport from December 16–18, 2021, for the holiday break. Tickets are for one-way transportation to the airport; shuttles will not be available in January for return trips to campus. Learn more on the Student Engagement website.

Thanksgiving Break

Thanksgiving Break begins on Wednesday, November 24 at 10 a.m. and ends on Sunday, November 29 at 1 p.m. Thanksgiving Break Housing is available to all students who wish to remain on campus for any portion of the Thanksgiving Break period at no cost. Dining will be available. The deadling to request Thanksgiving Break housing was Wednesday, November 10 at 11:59 p.m.

Room Changes (UPDATED)

The Room Change Request Form will be available in Residence Life Self-Service until Friday, December 3. All requests will continue to be reviewed on a first come, first served basis and offered as rooms become available. As of October 29, there are no single rooms available at this time. 

Room changes are not guaranteed. Single rooms are extremely limited and students with approved ODS accommodations will be prioritized. If you have any questions regarding your room change request, please contact your neighborhood Area Director/Assistant Director.
