For Faculty
Smith College students and alumnae are successful in fellowship competitions in substantial part because of faculty and staff support. We ask for your help in identifying candidates for fellowships requiring nomination or endorsement. As you get to know students who might be strong candidates, please let us know by filling out a fellowships candidate form. Your work with students as they develop sound fellowships plans and the letters of recommendation that you write in support of your students are vital to Smithies' success in nationally competitive award competitions. For questions or more information, email fellowships@smith.edu.

Faculty Resources
We Offer the Following Resources
- Our Select Fellowships page includes a summary of the major fellowships and graduate scholarships for which Smith College endorses applicants and other direct-application awards of similar competitiveness. The summary indicates when students may apply for particular awards - for example, as a sophomore, senior, or recent alumna.
- Please note that for certain highly competitive awards, students must apply internally for endorsement one semester in advance of external application. Typically, this is the spring of junior year for applications planned in the fall of senior year. The Apply for a Fellowship page has a section on endorsements which will provide information to applicants and their faculty advisers about the process.
- For each competitive award that the Fellowships Program supports, we have a one-page information sheet that provides details of eligibility and selection criteria. Quick links to information sheets are pulled together on the Resources page.
- The Fulbright US Student Program is the award program that attracts the largest number of Smith College applicants. Our Fulbright Focus page pulls together specific information related to Fulbright, including information about the role of the Fulbright faculty mentor, recommendations, language evaluations, and the Campus Committee Evaluation (CCE) process.
- General guidance about fellowship letters of recommendation, including specific foundation guidelines and deadlines, can be found in the Letters of Recommendation section of the Apply for a Fellowship page.
